{"id":375,"date":"2012-05-19T05:34:00","date_gmt":"2012-05-19T05:34:00","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.scoff.ca\/?page_id=375"},"modified":"2012-05-19T05:39:33","modified_gmt":"2012-05-19T05:39:33","slug":"music-2","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"http:\/\/www.scoff.ca\/?page_id=375","title":{"rendered":"Music"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><strong>Background<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><a href=\"?page_id=391\"><U>My Gear<\/U><\/a><\/li>\n<li>I&#8217;ve been playing guitar since I was 18.<\/li>\n<li>I&#8217;m self taught and up until now have never taken lessons or have been shown anything in person.<\/li>\n<li>I basically memorize tablature.<\/li>\n<li>I&#8217;ve gotten pretty good at being able to play whatever I hear.<\/li>\n<li>Since I never had lessons, I don&#8217;t know my scales, so playing anything original or improvising any sort of lead just isn&#8217;t happening.<\/li>\n<li>I don&#8217;t stray from the tablature.<\/li>\n<li>I don&#8217;t sing.<\/li>\n<li>I normally just play the <em>cool<\/em>parts of songs that make me happy.<\/li>\n<li>I have never played with any other human.<\/li>\n<li>For the reasons above, I don&#8217;t really know any full songs.<\/li>\n<li>If I ever did play with others, my timing would be way off, I&#8217;d forget where I was and would probably just suck pretty bad. I&#8217;m used to playing over the existing guitarist, not being the guitarist.<\/li>\n<li>I&#8217;d say it&#8217;s about time I left the nest, learned to fly with others and learned my friggin&#8217; guitar scales.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><strong>Here&#8217;s what I recorded:<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"wp-content\/music\/Bob Rankin - Pink Floyd - The Wall (Part 2).mp3\" target=\"_blank\"><U>Pink Floyd &#8211; The Wall (Part 2)<\/U><\/a> (3:24) (4.93mb) <span style=\"color: red;\">&#8212;<strong>No Vocals Yet<\/strong><\/span><br \/>\nThis is a cover of Pink Floyd from their album The Wall<br \/>\nThis was recorded December 2004.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"wp-content\/music\/Bob Rankin - So Far Away (Staind).mp3\" target=\"_blank\"><U>So Far Away<\/U><\/a> (3:58) (5.46mb) <strong>No Vocals Yet<\/strong><br \/>\nThis is a cover of Staind from their album 14 Shades Of Grey<br \/>\nThis was recorded late 2003.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"wp-content\/music\/Bob Rankin - Tears In The Rain (Joe Satriani).mp3\" target=\"_blank\"><U>Tears In The Rain<\/U><\/a> (1:24) (1.93mb)<br \/>\nOriginally done by Joe Satriani from his album Extremist.<br \/>\nRecorded early &#8217;99.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"wp-content\/music\/Bob,Rob,Sara,Diana,Brendan,Angel,Sue%20-%20Time%20Of%20Your%20Life.mp3\" target=\"_blank\"><U>Good Riddance (Time of Your Life)<\/U><\/a> &#8211; Me, Rob, Sara, Diana, Brendan, Angel, Sue (2:36) (2.44mb)<br \/>\nA cover originally done by Greenday from their album Nimrod. This was recorded in my room May &#8217;99.<br \/>\nFriends singing are Rob, Angel, Sue, Sara, Yankee, Diana and me playing guitar with a midi orchestra in the background. It turned out well. (We were all liquored up at the time !)<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"wp-content\/music\/Bob%20Rankin,%20Rob%20Geddes%20-%20Another%20Lonely%20Day%20(Ben%20Harper).mp3\" target=\"_blank\"><U>Another Lonely Day (Ben Harper)<\/U><\/a> &#8211; Me and Rob (3:42) (3.48mb)<br \/>\nThis is a Ben Harper cover tune from his album Fight For Your Mind. It was recorded in my room on campus March &#8217;99. I played guitar while Rob Geddes sang.<br \/>\nYou&#8217;ll notice we did a few takes that night. This was recorded late &#8217;98 in my room on campus.<br \/>\nIt distorts a little at one point, I guess then I didn&#8217;t know how to work the microphone.<br \/>\nIt needs a voice, if you can sing let me know.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"wp-content\/music\/Bob Rankin - Un Cuervo En La Tormenta.mp3\" target=\"_blank\"><U>Un Cuervo En La Tormenta<\/U><\/a> (4:34) (5.23mb)<br \/>\nThis was my first original song recorded mid &#8217;98. It was a dedication to my favorite movie at the time &#8220;The Crow&#8221;.<br \/>\nVoices in the background were samples from the movie.
