I had an idiot moment at Subway today. I ordered a meatball sub and the woman asked me what I wanted on it.
\u201cA few hot peppers, some red onion, some lettuce and tomato.\u201d
I look away for a second because the guy next to her at the cash asked me what I ordered. I guess he was getting ready for me to pay. This was odd because she didn\u2019t even start building the thing yet.
I told him, \u201cA 12 inch meatball\u201d.
\u201cAnything to drink with that?\u201d he responds.
\u201cNo, nothing.\u201d I said.
I looked back at my sub and it had onions, peppers and mayo. Gross! Who puts that on a meatball sub?
I said \u201cSorry, I asked for lettuce and tomato, not mayo.\u201d
She looks all confused, \u201cOh, sorry I\u2026\u201d she hands it off to the guy, I figured he was going to get me another one from scratch or something.
\u201cThat\u2019s ok, you can just scrape it off.\u201d I said.
\u201cYou sure?\u201d he asks.
He gives it back to the woman and she puts it back down on the counter.
\u201cWhat else did you want on it?\u201d she asked.
I said \u201cSorry, I thought you were going to throw it out, I said you can just scrape off the mayo instead, it doesn\u2019t matter.\u201d She started scraping it off and when it was mayo free she asked, \u201cWhat else did you want on it?\u201d
\u201cL-E-T-T-U-C-E and T-O-M-O-A-T-O\u201d. I was starting to get annoyed.
When that was done the guy asks me again \u201cAnything to drink with that?\u201d
\u201cNo!\u201d
