Apple Crisp 1/2 C Melted Butter 1 C Sifted Flour 3/4 C Quick-cooking Rolled Oats 3/4 C Light Brown Sugar 4 C Sliced Apples 1/2 C Granulated Sugar 1 C Boiling Water 1 tsp Cinnamon 1/2 tsp Salt 2 tbsp Cornstarch 1 tsp Vanilla In medium saucepan, melt butter and cool it a little. Work in flour, oats, brown sugar, cinnamon, and salt until crumbly. Press half of mixture into an 8 or 9 inch baking dish and cover with sliced apples. In saucepan, mix together (dry) the sugar and cornstarch, then stir in water and cook, stirring until thick. Remove from heat and add vanilla. Pour this hot syrup evenly over the apples. Now sprinkle and lightly pat remaining crumble mix over top. Bake at 325F for 50-60 minutes or until bubbly and golden, and apples are tender.
