Finally getting around to gluing up the octagon skirt.

I’ve almost finished assembling the pedestal table skirt and drawer face. I just need to sand the pieces, glue them up and start the drawer supports.

Here’s where I’m at with the cabinet as of today.  Upper cabinet is done, a few new tool holders.  I wonder if this is supposed to be just an ever evolving thing.

Next I cut 8 x 3/4″ pieces that were 4″ wide for the octagonal skirt. Then I routed the same edge profile as I did for the top. I used the tablesaw to cut off the strips of moulding one … Continue reading →

Here is the routed profile done on the router table, classical cove and bead.

Now i used the track saw to cut along the layout lines to make the octagon top.

Next I glued up three sections to make the top.

And then there were legs.

The joint to secure the legs to the base will be a sliding dovetail.  To make the dovetail slot on the base I first routed a stopped 1/2″ wide, 3/4″ deep groove to remove most of the waste to finish … Continue reading →
