Next I cut 8 x 3/4″ pieces that were 4″ wide for the octagonal skirt.
Then I routed the same edge profile as I did for the top.
I used the tablesaw to cut off the strips of moulding one by one until I got eight from this single board.
The next step will be to glue the mouldings to each of the 8 skirt pieces, cut the ends to 22.5 degrees and and join them to make an octagon. I haven’t decided on how to join the pieces yet.
